Moodbidri: Ancient Panchaloha idol missing from Basadi

Moodbidri, Jul 6: An ancient Panchaloha idol was stolen from Siddanta Jain Basadi in the town on the night of Friday July 5. The theft came to light when the door of the Basadi was opened today morning.

The idol the thieves have taken away happens to be very ancient.  It is thought that its value may run into crores of rupees, taking into account its antique value.

Moodbidri police visited the spot and undertook investigation. Besides local religious leaders, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, also visited the Basadi.

    Another reason could be splinter groups of BJP, who attacked Churches across Karnataka, were not caught and punished.
    Emboldened by such inaction, may be they got inspiration for new ventures!

    What else the jobless people will do when suddenly they are short of money!!!?
    They know the value of these idols, as they visit these temples (not to pray) every now and then.
    Police should keep a watch on movement of these type of people to recover the idol.

    CC TV footage has got some images of the thief, but he was wearing mask.
    Actually the room where these valuable were kept is known to only Jain devotees because it has entrance ticket and only Jains are allowed inside . So, the thief posing as Jain devotee must have surveyed the place atleast two-three times before striking, and if there is CCTV in that room then surely his image may be available in 2-3 days earlier footages.

    This incident is just not about the idols. The question is to whom these idols will be sold or who is going to buy the precious idols of our country? Definitely there is a mafia who purchases these idols and sells abroad. Its high time that the police deptmt will find the thieves and bring law and order in the state.

    People have lost their sense of direction. How could someone deal with such a priceless idol? All those who have some information of this theft should inform the authorities concernced. The police had told that all the religious places to fit CCTVs in their area. This shows that they are no longer able to assure about security to the religious and holy places. There were thefts of other idols in the past but we have forgotten about those idols.
