Daijiworld Media Network - Kolar (SP)
Kolar, Jul 3: With the killing of two persons including a youth at Bangarpet bus stand in the district on Monday July 1 night by crushing their heads with concrete hollow blocks, the number of people dying in the hands of unknown killers has risen to three in last four days in Bangarpet town, and four deaths within one week within the limits of Bangarpet police station.
One of the victims, Satish (28), a 40-year-old labourer, a native of Boodikote near here, used to work in the shop owned by Mageri Nagaraj at Bangarpet, while the other person was perhaps a beggar by profession. Satish had worked as bus cleaner for several years before embracing the above job. Both of them were sleeping at the municipal bus stand at Bangarpet, when their heads were hit with concrete hollow blocks. On the morning of last Saturday, a 40-year-old coolie was killed in the same bus stand with a hollow block.
An accused relating to the first of the above murders is already in police custody. However, the incidents of murder are continuing, sending shivers down the spines of people of the town. Some doubt the genuineness of allegations of murder leveled against Venkatesh, who has been held by the police, because of the fact that he was born without the left leg. Questions about the possibility of the murder having committed by him are being raised now. The police claim to have extracted a confession from Venkatesh of having killed a person on Saturday because of the latter’s refusal to lend him Rs 100. However, the murdered man was a beggar, and his identity is unknown even to Venkatesh, who also appears to have lost balance of mind.
Sniffer dogs and finger print experts were rushed to Bangarpet bus stand on Tuesday, immediately after the barbaric murders came to light. The sniffer dogs could not do anything but take a round through the bus stand and nearby Amaravathi Layout. Deputy superintendent of police, Rangaswamy, circle inspector, Venkatachalapati, and sub-inspector, Sridhar, visited the spot. A case was registered by local police sub-inspector, Sridhar.
In the meanwhile, a person sleeping at Jamal Shah Nagar in the outskirts of Kolar was killed by dropping a boulder on his head on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Syed Ajmal (25), a coolie working in APMC Market. He was murdered when he was sleeping outside the house of a friend named Riaz.
Central zone inspector general of police, Amarkumar Pandey, has instructed the police to hasten the work of finding out the culprits behind these dastardly acts as more such murders can occur if he remains untraced. He was accompanied by Kolar superintendent of police, Ram Nivas Sepat, and KGF superintendent of police, Rohini Katoch.
The police have noted that in all the cases, the murdered persons were drunken people sleeping in the open, concrete blocks are replaced in their original spots after murder, and trousers of the murdered people are removed after they are killed.
