Udupi: Five students arrested for ganja trafficking near Manipal

Udupi, Jun 13: The policemen of the town police station here arrested five college students, who were selling ganja near Indrali railway cross near Manipal here, in the afternoon of Wednesday June 12.
Shashank R Tingalaya (19), son of Ravindra G Tingalaya from Kodavoor Salmara, Godwin (19), son of Stany D'Souza, resident of Santhekatte near here, Sham Pras Godwin (18) son of Samuel Santosh from Hanumanthanagar in Nittoor, Shervin (19), son of Stephan Amanna, resident of Shiribeedu here, and Akash Salian (18), son of Anand Kitti Salian, a native of Dombivili, Mumbai, were arrested in this incident.
The police seized 850 grams ganja and six cell phones from the possession of these students.
The police said that the above students were found to have concealed the plastic sachets containing ganja inside their T-shirts. They had conducted the raid based on reliable information that ganja was being sold at the spot.
The accused had started fleeing after seeing the police party, but the policemen succeeded in chasing and arresting them.
The value of ganja seized has been put at Rs 20,000. Police sub-inspector (PSI) of the station, Meenakshi, and PSI of crime branch, Aithappa, led the raid.
A case stands registered in the town police station against the students. Investigation has been taken up.
