Mangalore, Jun 4: In commemoration of the golden inter parish Konkani singing competition of Konkani Natak Sabha, Pejar Varado inter parish singing competition was held on Sunday June 2, at St Joseph’s Junior College Auditorium, Bajpe, here.

The singing competition was inaugurated by Pejar Varado Vicar Var Remigius Aranha by lighting the lamp along with principal of St Joseph Junior College Br Hector Pinto, president of Konkani Natak Sabha Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza (Capuchin), vice president Dolphy Saldanha, general secretary Sunil Menezes, joint secretary Lynette P Kamath and treasurer Prem Lobo.

Speaking on the occasion Fr Remigius Aranha wished all the participants every success.

In both the categories 86 competitors from Bajpe, Gurpur, Surathkal and Pejar parishes of the Pjar Varado participated in the competition. 

The following competitors are qualified for semi final:
Below 10 years:

Solo –  Olita Pinto, Gurpur and Princia Serrao, Bajpe
Duet –  Princia Serrao and Lenisha Moras, Bajpe

10 to 15 years:

Above 15 years

Anil Patrao and Alwyn D’Cunha from Derebail and Jude Fernandes from Milagres were the judges for the competition.

Audience enjoyed the jokes enacted by comedy king Adolpus Cutinha (Dolla, Manglur) on the occasion.

Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Dolphy Saldanha compered the programme, Prem Lobo introduced the judges and Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks.
 
Prize distribution ceremony for the qualifier of semifinal was held after the competition. The prizes were distributed by Pejar Varado Vicar Var Fr Remigius Aranha along with president of Konkani Natak Sabha Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza. Raymond D’Cunha announced the results.
