Bangalore, Jun 1: ‘Chaos Faktory’ organized the Bangalore Parkour and Freerunning Jam 2.0 at the National Games Village, Koramangala, Bangalore vicinity recently. Around 50 Parkour enthusiastic people participated in the event.
Parkour (abbreviated PK), also called as the "Art of displacement”, is a training discipline that developed out of military obstacle course training. Practitioners aim to move from one place to another, negotiating the obstacles in between. The discipline uses no equipment and is non-competitive.
Freerunning (abbreviated FR) was evolved from Parkour and includes combinations of Martial Arts, Gymnastics or Acrobatics moves. It is the freedom of movement and action. Parkour-Freerunning is a relatively new concept in India and gaining attention since few years.
This was the right opportunity for people who get inspired by seeing the high voltage Hollywood chase and other similar videos to experience Parkour moves. 50 people made use of this opportunity and gained exposure to Parkour and Freerunning.
Chaos Faktory had organized Karnataka’s first ever PK/FR Jam 1.0 in January and this time it was the second one of its kind.
The event started at 8:30 with introduction about the evolution of Parkour and Freerunning. Many participants expressed their urge to practice Parkour from a long time, but they did not get the right guidance and they were looking forward for this event. Introduction was followed by warm up exercises and Chaos Faktory team members explained the importance and necessity of warm up. After this they practiced basic Parkour moves like Seat spin, Safety tap followed by basic wall scaling techniques.
After refreshments, participants were taught basic vaults like Safety, Lazy and Monkey. Also Chaos Faktory team members demonstrated some of the complex vaults like Kong, Speed and Thief. Team demonstrated the practicalities of Parkour. Participants were also taught to do few of these techniques.
Chaos Faktory team then showcased some of the complex moves of Freerunning.
At the end of the event, there were surprise gifts for few of the best performers. Participants expressed their experience from the jam and they were highly satisfied by the way the event was organized and movements were taught. Indeed it was a good experience for the participants as well as for Chaos Faktory.
