Mangalore, May 30: While stating the three basic necessities of humans, water is generally forgotten, which is no doubt a very essential part of life itself. In fact, the human body comprises of 90% water at birth which reduces to around 55% at the age of 21. This means that more than half of the human body is made up of water, and thus, water is very important to our existence. But sadly, this has been ignored and taken for granted.
According to research scientists, if precaution has not been taken, within the next decade, all countries would face a severe water crisis, and the number of deaths due to drought would significantly rise by over 700%.
Realizing the need for awareness among Indians, 92.7 BIG FM has come up with the concept of Paani Bachao, which is being implemented in different ways by all the 45 stations of 92.7 BIG FM.
In Mangalore, the Paani Bachao Campaign will be spearheaded by RJ Errol Gonsalves, wherein he will conduct a 15 Hour RJ Marathon on the May 31, which will comprise of experts from various fields, film stars, sportspersons and other celebrities. This RJ marathon will begin at 7am and conclude at 10pm, while covering various topics related to water conservation.
The celebrities who will be speaking on this occasion include India’s Ace Badminton player Saina Nehwal, Sandalwood actresses Rishika Singh, Harshika Poonacha and Shwetha Pandit, Actor Rakshit Shetty of 'Simplag Ond Love Story' fame, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr. Veerendra Heggade, Dr Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education Foundation, senior journalist Sheshagiri Rao, Manohar Prasad and Srinivasan Nandagopal, Jagadish from Thume dam , Vishwas Kamath, Mallikarjun from Bharath Mall, amongst many others.
