District ministers: Rai gets DK, Sorake-Udupi, Jain-Chikmagalur, Khadar-Kolar

Bangalore, May 27: Ahead of the maiden session of the newly constituted Karnataka assembly, chief minister Siddaramaiah has announced the appointment of his ministerial colleagues as ministers in charge of the districts and also for monitoring the implementation of the 20-point economic programme.
As per the official notification, Forest minister B Ramanath Rai will be in charge of the Dakshina Kannada district while urban development minister Vinaya Kumar Sorake will be in charge of the Udupi district.
The other two ministers from the undivided coastal Dakshina Kannada – Abhayachandra Jain and U T Khadar – will be in charge of Chikmagalur and Kolar districts respectively.
Senior Congress leader and Medical Education and Tourism minister R V Deshpande has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Uttara Kannada district.
While film star Ambarish has been put in charge of Mandya district, V Srinivasa Prasad is in charge of Mysore and Dr H C Mahadevappa, who is very close to the chief minister, has been put in charge of Hassan and Kodagu districts.
