Mangalore: ‘Team Bangalore Rural’ wins state level football tourney

Mangalore, May 27:
‘Team Bangalore Rural’ bagged the first place beating ‘Team Dakshina Kannada’, in the Palli Jayaram Shetty Memorial State Level Football Tournament held at Nehru Maidan football ground on Sunday May 26.

The tournament was organized by Dakshina Kannada District Football Association (DKDFA) in association with Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA).

In the grand finale, both teams failed to secure a single goal in both the halves. However, team Bangalore Rural beat the DK team in the tie breaker scoring 4-2 and emerged winners.

The winning team was awarded the trophy along with cash prizes. Teams from 12 districts took part in this tournament being held from Monday May 20.
 
Valedictory:

Prof PCM Kunji of Yenepoya Medical and Dental College, Anand K, entrepreneur, and Mohan Bengere were part of the valedictory ceremony. DKDFA president D M Aslam presided over the occasion. Secretary Mohammed Hussain Bolar, office-bearers Umesh Uchil, M S Krishnamurthy, Krishnoji Rao, and Anil PV were present.

Senior football player T A Rehman, Abdul Rahuf, Janaradhan Bengre, Harishchandra Puthran, Bashir Bolar, and Isha Patel were felicitated.
