Mangalore, May 27: Haleangadi Handloom Cluster, in collaboration with Development Commissioner Textiles Manthralaya, New Delhi, as well as Commissioner for Textile Development and Director of Handlooms and Textiles Department and Government of Karnataka, organized a ‘Handloom Cluster Exhibition-cum-Sale’ at the State Government Employee Association building in the city on Sunday May 26.
Inaugurating the event, Moideen Bava, MLA of Mangalore North, said, “I congratulate Haleangadi Handloom Cluster for organizing this wonderful event. Khadi handloom was a great dream of Mahathma Gandhi. We should promote handloom products. The production of handlooms increases the economy of the state. Handloom products should reach every corner of the state.”
George Pinto, deputy commissioner of excise and president, DK District KSGE Association, Mangalore, in his chief guest’s address, said, “The small scale industries are in danger without a market. Hence, this exhibition is a way of promoting small scale industries. The youth should get more opportunity in this field.”
