Mangalore: Nine-year-old boy electrocuted while playing

Mangalore, May 25: A nine-year-old boy met a tragic end when he was electrocuted while playing in the premises of his residence at Marnamikatta here on Saturday May 25.
The deceased has been identfied as Nadeem (9), son of Abdul Sattar, a resident of Husna Mansion flats at Kuthpady road, Marnamikatta. Sattar is the propritor of the flats.
The premises has a high-tension transformer surrounded by grills as protection. However, the transformer is within an arm's distance if one climbs the grills.
It is said that Nadeem, while playing, climbed the grills and reached out to the transformer, and died on spot as high-voltage current passed through him. A part of his hand got stuck in the transformer and got detached from the body. It was later pried out by Mescom personnel.
Though some of the family members were present, everything happened too quickly and they could not save him, it is learnt. He was taken to Unity hospital.
Nabeel was studying in the 4th standard at Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe School, Attavar.
Pandeshwar police will register a case.
