Mangalore, May 24: “As soon as Congress came to power in the state, its leaders in their excitement began taking all the wrong decisions. Instead of protecting the interests of citizens, they are creating problems for them,” said D V Sadananda Gowda, national vice-president of BJP.
Addressing media persons at the district BJP office here on Friday May 24, DVS said that some of the sudden decisions by the state government have created problems to people.
Strongly condemning the decision by the government to postpone and re-consider the erstwhile BJP government's move form 43 new taluks, he said, "The decision of creating new taluks was taken by the BJP in fulfilment of the long-pending demand of the people. At that time, some of the Congressmen who are now ministers had supported us, but now the same people are opposing it. They claim that they do not have enough money for the new taluks.
"As soon as Congress came to power, it announced various projects worth Rs 4,000 crore, but now it does not have money to create taluks. With such decisions, Congress government is proving that it is indulging in revenge politics," DVS alleged.
On the anti-cow slaughter policy proposed by the BJP government, Gowda said BJP brought proposed it after making a detailed study and the same policy is also enforced in states administered by the Congress. "But now Congress is hurting the religious sentiments of the majority of the people by making statements that it will implement the old act of 1964, thus supporting cow slaughter," he said.
Referring to CM’s statement indicating the inclusion of Udupi Sri Krishna Math and Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple under the muzrai department, he asked the government not to interfere in the issue as it would hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. "Think properly before taking any decision," he warned, referring to the state government.
Commenting on statement made by chief minister Siddaramaiah on providing cheap alcohol to the poor, DVS said, "The government is trying to spoil the people living in rural areas with decisions like these."
Padmanabh Kottary, district BJP president said the district unit will be organizing ‘Jail Bharo’ on May 27 at 10 am, against the UPA government’s reckless governance and involvement of Congress leaders in numerous corruption cases.
Nithin Kumar from Meenugarika Nigama, Pushpalatha, district vice-president, Rajgopal Rai, Guruchan from Yuva Morcha among others were present.
