Udupi: 'Koti Chennayya' serial on DD Chandana channel from May 12

Udupi, May 10: ‘Koti Chennayya’, Tulu-Kannada TV serial on Tulunadu's legendary twin warriors, produced by Praja Films, Katpadi, will be telecast in Doordarshan’s Chandana Vaahini channel from May 12 every Sunday from 9 am to 9.30 am, informed producer K Ashok M Suvarna.
The serial is based on the legendary warriors Koti-Chennayya who fought for social justice. It also portrays the culture and rituals of Tulunadu.
Ashok Suvarna, producer of the serial, said the serial is in Kannada and later it will be dubbed into Tulu. Shooting and editing of 20 episodes is complete. It is based on the Tulu film that was produced by his father the late Muddu Suvarna in 1972.
Dr B A Vivek Rai, Amrita Someshwar, Ganesh Amin Sankamar, Vamana Nandavara have composed the songs.
The tele serial is directed by Chandrahas Alva who is trained by the renowned Kannada film director the late Puttanna Kanagal. This epic story will consist of 250 episodes.
Dr Mohan Alva will play the role of Perumala Ballal and Udaya Shetty Inna will act as Koti. It consists of over 30 melodious folk songs.
The serial will be first telecast in Kannada and later the same episodes will be telecast in Tulu.
The serial will be shot in and around Udupi. A few scenes will be shot at historical places related to Koti-Chennayya.
Actors Udaya Kumar Shetty Inna, Pradeep, actress Poornima Suresh, Umesh Kotian were present during the press meet.
