Bantwal, May 9: RSS has not intervened in the process of finalizing BJP candidates, said RSS chief Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat here, reacting to certain allegations that he had played a role in getting the ticket for Rajesh Naik when there were more experienced aspirants available.
"There has been no intervention by the RSS in BJP's matters or with its choice of candidate," he clarified.
"I did not ask anyone to choose any particular candidate. BJP organizing committee working president Santosh nominated the candidates. Allegations about my intervention are false and baseless," he asserted.
"Confusion and chaos in the state BJP led people to reject the party. Voters are intelligent, and because of their dissatisfaction with BJP, they voted for Congress. The media too created adverse publicity against the BJP and this is the reason for BJP's defeat," he said.
Training guns on MLA Ramanath Rai who had publicly declared that his election fight was against Dr Bhat and not against Rajesh Naik, he said, "To appease minorities and to project himself as a protector of their community Ramanath Rai it is a contest against me instead of Bantwal BJP candidate. It is a part of his political strategy."
"The Sangh Parivar has toiled hard for BJP's win, but it was defeated because of the money power of Congress. BJP has to introspect over its defeat. It is national party and losing and winning is common," said Dr Kalladka Prabakar Bhat.
