Mangalore: Manvitha does city proud with second rank in SSLC

Mangalore, May 6: When the SSLC results were announced on Monday May 6, there was one young girl at Konaje here who rejoiced with happiness unbound.
It was Manvitha K, who secured the second rank in the state. She is a student of Vishwamangala Highery Primary School, Konaje.
Manvitha, a multi-talented girl, scored a whopping 621 out of 625, which included 100 in mathematics and social science and a commendable 98 in science. She also scored full marks in English.
She is the proud daughter of Mohandas, who runs a fabrication workshop at Bantwal, and Shobha, a housewife. She is the only child of her parents.
Speaking to daijiworld, a jubilant Manvitha said that she credits her success to her parens, teachers and friends who supported and encouraged her all the way.
Asked how she prepared for the exams, she said, "I revised the day-to-day lessons at school everyday for three hours. I also solved previous years' question papers which helped me a lot."
"I was very happy when I heard about my rank. Although I was expecting good marks, I did not expect a rank," she said, adding that she had expected to score well in languages and did it too.
Right from LKG, she has studied in Vishwamangala School run by Vishwamangala Educational Society.
"There is nothing like tough or easy subject, I considered all subjects equally. But I paid more attention to mathematics and English," she said.
She also underwent coaching for science and maths during vacations.
Asked about her future plans she said, "My next aim is to take PCMB in PUC and pursue medicine."
Manvitha is not just an academic achiever. She is trained in Bharatanatyam and is also good at swimming. She is also highly talented artist, having won more than 200 prizes in drawing and painting contests. She secured the third place in Pratibha Karanji state-level drawing contest held in Gulbarga. In the state-level Ancha Kuncha' competition conducted by Shantivana trust, Dharmasthala, she came second last year, and third the year before.
She considers former President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam as her inspiration and role model.
Her parents, brimming with joy and pride at their daughter's stupendous achievement, said that they had never expected a rank, though they knew Manvitha would do well as she was dedicated to her studies.
"She wants to do PCMB and medicine, and we will fully support her. Right from her childhood, we have been supporting her in everything, be it swimming, Bharatanatyam or anything else that interests her. In the future too we will do everything we can to support her," said her father Mohandas.
Headmistress of the Vishwamangala School Appi Bai K, Prof Fakirappa, president of Vishwamangala Educational Society, and Dr H L Shashirekha, secretary, also expressed their happiness and congratulated Manvitha.
