Udupi: Trivial fight between families leads to attack, couple injured

Udupi, May 6: A trivial issue between two families at Hoode here snowballed into a major fight, with the result that one couple had to be hospitalized with injuries.
It is said that Mohammed Saleem (31) and his wife Zubeida have been staying in a rented house along with another couple identified as Mohammed and Zohra.
It is said that at around 3 pm on Sunday May 5, Zohra and Zubeida had an argument over a trivial issue regarding disposal of waste.
Later at around 7 pm, Mohammed and Zohra along with three other men - Abdul, Afzal and Rafiq - reportedly called Saleem outside the house and threatened him, brandishing a knife at him.
Zubeida, frightened at this, rushed to her husband's help, and in the process, was injured on her face.
The attackers allegedly dragged Saleem and beat him up with rods before fleeing the place.
Saleem and his wife were later admitted to the government hospital.
It is said that the attackers visited Saleem at the hospital and threatened to kill him if he filed a police complaint. However, unfettered, Saleem went ahead and lodged a complaint.
Malpe police have registered a case and investigation is on.
