New Delhi, Apr 29 (IANS): The Delhi High Court Monday said further hearing was required in Congress leader Sajjan Kumar's plea challenging a trial court order framing charges against him in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case related to the killing of six people in the national capital's Sultanpuri area.

The court fixed May 15 as the date for further hearing. Justice Suresh Kait said: "I felt these matter should be heard further, renotify on May 15."

The high court was to pronounce the the order on the plea challenging the trial court order, which in July 2010 had framed charges against five accused, including Sajjan Kumar, for the murder of six people after the assassination of then prime minister Indira Gandhi Oct 31, 1984.

The court had framed charges against Sajjan Kumar, Brahmanand Gupta, Peru, Khushal Singh and Ved Prakash for rioting, murder and destruction of property amongst others.

They were framed under Sections 302 (murder), 395 (dacoity), 427 (to cause damage to property) and 153-A (promoting enmity between communities) of the Indian Penal Code.

Sajjan Kumar and two other co-accused, Ved Prakash Pial alias Vedu Pradhan and Brahmanand Gupta, had moved the Delhi High Court in 2010.

Complainant Sheela Kaur had filed a cross-appeal in the high court seeking to invoke the charges of criminal conspiracy against Sajjan Kumar and the others. She also opposed the plea for dropping charges against Sajjan Kumar.

On Tuesday, the Karkardooma court is likely to pronounce its verdict in which six accused, including Sajjan Kumar, are facing trial for the killing of five people in the Delhi Cantonment area during the riots.
