Konkani play '...Nathlyaa Vellar' captivates Bangalore audience

Bangalore, Apr 28: A pleasant mix of suspense and comedy enacted brilliantly by the Daiji Dubai artistes ensured that the Konkani drama ‘Aami Nathlyaa Vellar’ captured the attention of Mangaloreans in Bangalore on Saturday April 27 at St Joseph’s High School auditorium.
The packed crowd enjoyed every bit of the action, especially the final court scene. With very fine stage settings the action in the middle was captured by veteran actor-cum-director Dayan D’Souza who was brilliant in his role of the school teacher. Walter Nandalike rendered a powerful performance as Commander Herman along with Alphonse D'Souza who played the role of the villain with elan. Asha Correa as the leading lady yet again showed her class as a very fine star. The comic relief was provided by Godwin Castelino.
Others in the play included Cynthia Pinto, Lavina Fernandes, Alwyn Pinto, Ramcy Fernandes, Sandeep D’Souza, Nanu Marol, Kumar and young Regan Fernandes.
Veteran musicians Ketan D’Souza and Arun D’Almeida were exceptional with their musical support. Prasad Rai provided the sound and lighting that enhanced the story narration, while B K Gangadhar of Porlu Arts (Kudla) handled the sets expertly.
It was yet another feather in the cap for vetran organizer Denzil Fernandes who has now added Bangalore in his list of international destinations where he has organized various events almost single-handedly.
Raju Francis Fernandes, MD of SPPE (Dubai) was the chief guest and the main sponsor for the show. Ravisha Electronics, Grand Magrath Hotel, Brilliant Printers supported the event while daijiworld was the media partner.
It was a rare sight to see so many Bangaloreans flocking to the venue to see a top quality drama performed with class. The crowd were glued to their seats throughout and appreciated the efforts by the actors as well as the organizers immensely.
