Patna, Apr 26 (IANS): Maoists have killed an employee of a construction company in Bihar's Jamui district and torched three vehicles, police said Friday.
A group of armed Maoists attacked the site of a construction company near Paisraha village, in Jamui district, late Thursday night and slit the throat of the man, who worked as a munshi (accountant).
The Maoists also set ablaze three vehicles of the company, a district police official said.
Police suspect that the Maoists killed the munshi after the construction company he worked with refused to comply with demands for money from the rebels.
Police, meanwhile, have so far failed to rescue two labourers abducted by Maoists late Wednesday.
According to police, Maoist guerrillas abducted five labourers engaged in road construction, but released three of them early Thursday.
Earlier, the rebels had abducted some labourers of the same construction company in Jamui -- they were later released unharmed.
Jamui is considered a rebel stronghold.
