New Delhi, Apr 23 (IANS): The Delhi High Court Tuesday issued notice to the city police and sought from it a report on an elderly couple's plea that they were being harassed by police officials looking for their son.

Justice Siddharth Mridul asked Delhi Police to file a status report by May 28 on a plea by Kishan Lal, 74, and his wife, 65, that local police was looking for their son in a criminal case and was harassing them. They also alleged that their other two sons were being threatened.

The couple asked that the station house office of Palam Village be directed not to threaten their sons or implicate them in false cases.

Of their four sons, the couple said, one has been in jail for more than two years in a false case of theft registered by police.

The two other sons work as drivers. One had been recently picked up by police and harassed, the plea said.

They don't know the whereabouts of the son police is hunting for. He has been absconding for a year, the plea stated, adding that police officials visited their home any time of the day or night to search for him.

Seeking police protection, the petition said: "Cops have forcibly entered into the premises of the petitioner and used filthy and unparliamentary language against the couple."

On Feb 23, 2013 a written complaint was given by the couple but no action was taken, the petition said.
