Bangalore, Apr 22: KJP state unit president, former union minister, and former special representative of Karnataka government in New Delhi, V Dhananjay Kumar, speaking at a press conference here on Monday April 22, alleged that former Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, had to shell out money to BJP national leader, L K Advani, every month.
Dhananjay Kumar said that Yeddy was coerced into handing over this money to Advani and his children, so as to be able to remain in power. He claimed that under duress, Yeddyurappa had no other alternative but to arrange for the money. Kumar also said that he will release documentary proof about these payments at an opportune moment.
Speaking at Basavakalyana in Bidar district, leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddaramaiah, stressed that Dhananjay was telling the truth. “I am aware that the above payment was going on since the last two years,” he added.
Reacting to the statement, former state Chief Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda, speaking from Hassan, said that the BJP will be closed down if Kumar's statement is true. He asked Kumar to prove his allegations.
State BJP president, Prahlad Joshi, speaking at Shimoga, equalled Kumar's statement to spitting at the sky. "L K Advani is a political saint. This is an attempt to sully our leader's image. As usual, Kumar has been issuing irresponsible statements out of frustration. I hereby ask Yeddyurappa to clarify the matter," he added.
State Chief Minister, Jagadish Shettar, opined that the statement made by Kumar appears to be self-destructive.
