Mangalore: Couples battle for top spot in Rabne Banadi Jodi game show

Mangalore, Apr 21: ‘Marriages are made in heaven and celebrated on earth' and to make this celebration more interesting Hisrar Events & Celebrations in association with Sahaya TV organized ‘Rabne Banadi Jodi’, a unique game show for couples at Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe Educational Institutions Auditorium here on Sunday April 21.
The game show was inaugurated by Jeraldine Fernandes along with Maria Felcy D’Costa and Suresh Kottary from Sahaya TV.
Speaking after inaugurating the game show, Maria D’Costa wished good luck to the participating couples and asked them to sportively take part in the game show.
The guests also lauded organizer Hisrar and Sahaya TV for taking the initiative and for putting in their hard efforts.
Hisrar said it was a challenging task to organize this unique programme and thanked all the participating couples. The winning couple will get prizes worth Rs 50,000, including Rs 5,000 in cash, products and services.
As many as 15 couples from in and around the city, right from newly-married ones to elderly battled for the title of ‘Rabne Banadi Jodi’, the best couple of Mangalore. The oldest couple participating in the game show has been married for 39 years.
The couples were first divided into two groups to test their knowledge and compatibility. The test was in a written objective form based on how well the couples knew each other. From the test, 12 couples were shortlisted. Various entertaining games were then conducted, at the end of which one couple emerged as the winner. The results will be declared later in the day.
The contestants began the competition with a fashion show after which they showcased their talents with some of the couples serenading their partners with songs and entertaining the audiences with dance moves. Some of the couples also spoke about their romantic and cherished memories.
Speaking to Daijiworld, couple Suresh and Jithushree said that were happy to be a part of the show. "Today is a special day for us as we completed 11 years of marriage. No anniversary celebration can be better than this. This day will be always be remembered," said Suresh, "It is a beautiful way for couples to spend their weekend."
Another couple Herald and Gressybel Pinto from Bokkapatna said that they participated in the show as their daughter had asked them to. "We used to see couples taking part in reality shows and games on television but now we have got an opportunity," said the couple.
Young dancer Advika Shetty delighted the audience on the occasion with her moves. Various spot competitions were also conducted to the audience present and prizes were distributed to the winners.
The game show was ably compered by Hisrar while VJ Priya and young Poorvi Rao were the co-hosts.
Overall, the programme was a grand success and was a unique opportunity for the couples in the city to spend their leisure time in a better way.
