Australians shocked by Boston marathon bombing: PM

Canberra, April 16 (IANS): Australians have been shocked by the tragic scenes in the US, where three people were killed and more than 100 injured as two explosions tore through Boston Marathon runners and spectators, Prime Minister Julia Gillard said Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference in Canberra, she condemned this "brutal and senseless attack", reported Xinhua.

"Australia unreservedly condemns the brutal and senseless attack on what is a great event known around the world, and one people participate in to have fun as their families and friends watch on," Gillard said.

In a statement from her earlier Tuesday, Gillard said Australians' condolences go to the families of those killed and thoughts are with those who have been injured.

According to her, there is no evidence showing any Australian being injured in the marathon bombing.
