Indian pacer Umesh Yadav gets engaged

New Delhi, Apr 16 (NDTV): India and Delhi Daredevils' speedster Umesh Yadav got engaged to Tania, a fashion designer, in Nagpur on Monday.

The 26-year-old's ceremony took place at his Ramdaspeth flat in the afternoon a day before his team plays Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

"We met in Delhi and then our friendship grew... and then I proposed her," said Umesh after the engagement.

"We decided to get married after a year's courtship and our families agreed."

The pair have applied for their registration of marriage papers today and will get married after the IPL.

Umesh will join up with his team in Bangalore as the Delhi Daredevils take on the Royal Challengers on Tuesday.

"We will get formally married on May 29, after the Indian Premier League. I came all the way from Bangalore for a day like this," said the pacer.

His spouse Tania Wadhwa is a 24-year-old, Delhi based fashion designer.

"It was not love at first sight. It grew gradually," said Tania. "I like him as a person and I keep advising him about his career."

Umesh has been a talented find for the national side but injuries have stuttered his development. Even in this edition of IPL, he has claimed just 4 wickets in as many matches.

Lady luck though can change his fortunes as his IPL side looks to get back to winning ways.
