Mangalore, Apr 6: Gonzaga School, a unit of St Aloysius Institutions, celebrated its first Annual Day on Friday April 5 at Loyola Hall.
M V S Choudary, commissioner, Central Excise, was the chief guest on the occasion. Fr Joseph Rodrigues, rector, St Aloysius Institutions, presided over the event. Fr Elvis Lewis, manager, Gonzaga School, and Grace Noronha, principal, Gonzaga School, were also present on the dais.
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said that the school in which he studied has the motto ‘Born For Greater Things’ and the school has thought to live that way.
“Today’s education system has become highly shaky and may collapse at any time. Teachers must make their students strive for something great and be a role model to others. Teachers are the ones who are shaping tomorrow’s generation. A mother will have one or more children at home, but a teacher is a mother who has many children in school,” he said.
“This school not only focuses on the educational curricular system, but also teaches extra-curricular activities which further helps in the overall and intellectual development of the children,” said Choudhary.
He further urged the parents to emphasis more on character development of their children, rather than only focusing on the marks obtained.
Prizes were distributed to the students by the dignitaries on the occasion. Cultural events were performed by the students. Parents, staff, and children were present in large numbers.
