Kasargod: Moral policing - Man assaulted by 7 in ice cream parlour, one held

Kasargod, Apr 2: In a case of moral policing, a group barged into an ice cream parlour here on Monday April 1 and attacked a man who was having ice cream with two girls.
It is said that a team of seven vigilantes barged in and brutally attacked the man. He was immediately rushed to hospital with grave injuries.

The injured has been identified as Abdulla (34), a resident Zeenath Nagar, Bangod in Talangere. He is a sales manager in Mangalore and also the secretary of Bangod Defense Club.
City police have arrested Priyesh (20), a resident of Gange Road RD Nagar. Circle inspector Sunil Kumar C K said the police have already obtained information about four other persons involved in the attack.
The two girls are said to be students of central university.
It is said that the university and city corporation clubs had planned to organize a joint blood donation camp and the students had contacted Abdulla as a prelude to the camp. He suggested that they meet him near City General Hospital. After the meeting, Abdulla and two girls went to a nearby ice cream parlour. This is when the attack took place and police rushed to the spot immediately. Priyesh was caught with the help of the locals, but the others escaped. A hunt for the absconding persons is on.
