Mangalore, Apr 1: The three-day annual Nadavali Utsav of Kudroli Bhagavati Kshetra concluded on Sunday March 31.
The 18 chiefs of 18 villages and the villagers took part in this auspicious celebration.
Kudroli Bhagavati Kshetra is the origin for all the 18 Bhagavati Temples of Theeya Samaj.
The prominent deities of Kudroli Baghavathi Kshetra are Chirumbhi Bhagavati, Padaangara Bhagavati, Pulluralli Bhagavati. It is also believed that Bhagavati took her ‘Avatar’ to destroy the demon Darukasura.
The specialty of this Nadavali Utsav is that all chiefs of 18 villages have to walk on the fire called ‘Kendaseve’.
Cultural programme was held in the temple premises. Several members of Theeya Samaj (Malayali Billava) and other devotees were present on the occasion.
The Nadavali festival is held every year in March. Once in seven years the grand seven days festival of 'Bharani' is held. The festival of all festivals is held once in 25 years. This festival known as “Kaliyata” is a unique blend of festivals held in 17 other temples spread across Udupi in Karnataka to Kasaragod in Kerala.
