Kasargod, Apr 1: In an interesting incident, a thief is found to have left behind a letter asking the victim to forgive him. The incident occurred in the cell phones shop being run by Sufi from Korakkodu near the traffic junction on M G Road in the town.
The thief in question had entered Sufi’s shop on the night of Saturday March 30. He had stolen Rs 30,000 in cash, and three cell phones. It was found that roof tiles of the shop were removed for the purpose by the thief, who did not forget to leave behind a letter addressed to the shop owner after finishing his job.
The letter, written in Malayalam, goes on to say, “I am forced to commit this theft, as I am facing monetary crisis. Please excuse me for this act. I request you not to curse me.”
On the same night, the tiles of the roof of a neighbouring shop run by Yousuf from Badiyadka, were also found to have been removed, and someone seemed to have got in with the help of a rope. But nothing went missing from there.
The shop owner perhaps did not deem it right to forgive the thief. On the basis of a complaint filed by him, a case has been registered in the town police station here relating to the incident. The policemen have taken up investigation.
