Riyadh, Mar 20 : In a colorful gathering, a scholarship distribution programme solely sponsored by Mulky Muslim Association (MMA), Riyadh Unit, was held at the premises of Shafi Jumma Masjid Mulky recently. The programme was presided over by the Khateeb of the Masjid, S.B. Darimi Musliyar, who spoke on the occasion highlighting the importance of the charities and alms to be handed out to the poor people.
MMA was founded 24 years ago in Saudi Arabia. It was reorganized in Riyadh and Dammam-Khobar in 2009 with the broad objective of doing community welfare activities in various fields for the people in and around Mulky region. Distribution of Ramadan Kits to the poor families, Scholarship Program, Supply of Fitr-Zakah on Eid days, Financial Assistances, Medicare Programs and other altruistic services are some of the areas, where MMA is actively on the go for the past five years.
As a part of its educational program, MMA has allocated its 2013 funds for the scholarship to be distributed to the underprivileged students of various schools in Mulky-Karnad. Around 80 students have been given away with the scholarship on the occasion. The Association and local committee have collected the data about the students’ financial background in order to qualify them for the benefit. It has further plan to expand the number of students to be qualified for its Scholarship Program.
Nayaz Ahmed, Khateeb of Hanafi Juma Masjid Mulky, Mohammed Haneef, Khateeb of Juma Masjid Karnad, Iqbal President of Mulky Juma Masjid, Mustafa, President of Lingappayyana Kadu Masjid, Baunhi (Naloor) and others were guests on the occasion. They spoke occasionally and appreciated all the members of MMA Riyadh Unit for their charity works and welfare activities.
The occasion was kicked off with the Qur’an recitation by the students of Mulky Madrassa.
The Association organizes various programmes on phase-by-phase basis for the betterment of the community through its various viable means. It has conducted cricket tournaments and other programs including the release of a book titled ‘Backbiting’ so as to generate funds for the activities specially for the educational programs.
