Mangalore, Mar 10: T V Mohandas Pai, chairman of Manipal Global Education visited the sprawling MBA campus of St Aloysius College (AIMIT) at Kotekar-Beeri on Friday March 8.

Mohandas Pai gave an intriguing talk on “India’s Growth Challenges”. He was a member of the board of directors of Infosys, and head – administration, education and research, financial, human resources, and Infosys leadership institute. He was accompanied by Ramdas Kamath, senior vice president, head of infrastructure, commercial, facilities, administration and security, Infosys.

He presented facts of India’s growth in the last decade. He also made a contrast between China and India in terms of the actual growth that has been achieved in various sectors. Then later, he said “Biharis are doing to Kerala, what Keralites have done to Dubai”.  He was trying to throw light on the developments that follow after migration of people from one region to another.

Mohandas Pai told the audience there is a need to build smaller cities since concentration of people in a place would lead to lot of opportunities in trade and commerce. Mohandas Pai said he was living his dream while he was working at various responsible positions in Infosys. He urged the MBA students to build their fundamentals and develop a problem solving ability within them. He concluded his talk by asking the students to become future entrepreneurs and help themselves in chasing their dream.

Mohandas Pai received a huge number of questions both from the students and faculty members. One of the students asked a query on why the IT sector has not explored the potential in Mangalore to the full extent in spite of being the talent hub in the state. To this he replied saying; lack of will from the politicians from the region was one of the reasons for the slow growth of IT sector in Mangalore.

Mohandas Pai also disclosed on plans to create 50,000 jobs in a decade in IT sector with the help of Mangalore IT taskforce of which Fr Denzil Lobo is also a member.
