Tehran, Mar 10 (IANS): The Iranian army started military exercises in the country's southwestern province of Khuzestan Saturday, Xinhua reported.
The first stage of the drills, code- named Khatam ol-Anbia, will last three days, said the Army's Ground Force Commander General Ahmad- Reza Pourdastan.
"All the units stationed in southwestern Iran, including the mechanised, armoured and artillery units, will take part in the exercises," he said.
The ongoing military exercises aim to test cooperation between the command and its control units in an operational condition, Pourdastan said.
The army also plans to stage a missile exercise in the central part of the country following the Khatam ol-Anbia exercises, he added.
