Mangalore, Mar 5: To mark the International Women’s Day, Spandana trust, a social welfare unity trust in the city organized a programme at their premises in Jeppu on Tuesday March 5.
Anusuya Kamath from School of social work, Roshni Nilaya was the chief guest who inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp along with others dignitaries while resource person Rekha Shetty, Sr Tulia Pais, Sr Evangeline, managing director of Spandana trust, Theertha KS shared the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Anusuya Kamath stressed on the importance of women empowerment. She said education is important for every woman to lead a good life and also asked women to render education to their children too, especially girl child.
"Through the support of Spandana, I have grown up to a greater extent", she said lauding the efforts of Spandana trust in helping women through their initiatives like training programmes on empowerment, self help groups and various others.
Sr Tulia Pais in her address appreciated Spandana trust for their concern towards women by organizing various benefit programmes throughout the year. She also advised women to make best use of the opportunity and lead a good life.
Sr Evangeline welcomed the gathering while Theertha KS delivered the vote of thanks.
As part of the entertainment, various cultural programmes like skit, dance, songs were presented.
