Beltangady, Feb 23: “During our days the world was slow, technology was low and the job openings were minimum. But the contemporary scenario is different with a massive explosion of jobs. More and more youngsters are getting into banking sectors and the average age of bank employee is 28 years compared to 40 years of yester years. This is a progressive sign and if we grow at this rate, we will be able to achieve 60% of America’s economy by 2035,” said S M Desai, executive director, RUDSETI, Ujire.
He was speaking on the occasion of ‘Mathana-2013’-a one day intercollegiate PG commerce summit organized by the department of PG studies and research in commerce at SDM College, Ujire.
Talking about the wastage of resources, he opined “with the quantity of food being wasted daily, a billion hungry stomachs can be fed. Due to extreme hunger, about 3 lac children die yearly. Something has to be done to solve this crisis and youth can definitely make a difference as they are non-corrupt and honest”.
Professor Dinesh Chowta, vice principal, SDM College, professor Uday Chandra, HOD, department of commerce, Priya Kumari, staff coordinator and lecturer, SDM College were the other dignitaries present in the dais.
Professor Uday Chandra gave the introductory speech; Priya Kumari welcomed the guests and the gathering.
Students from various colleges attended the event and the inaugural ceremony was followed by various competitions.
