Cairo, Feb 13 (IANS): At least 10 people were killed when a truck collided with three cars on a desert road leading to Egypt's Alexandria city, Xinhua reported.
The accident led to closing of the road for hours before traffic authorities managed to restore traffic flow, official news agency MENA said.
Alexandria is around 220 km from the capital Cairo.
Transportation Minister Hatem Abdel-Latif recently said road accidents in Egypt kill around 10,000 every year.
The lack of highway security monitoring system, poor road maintenance and negligence of traffic rules are behind the high rate of road accidents in the country.
