Mangalore, Feb 10: The Campus Front of India held an awareness rally and meet against the drug menace thriving in the city on Saturday February 9.
The rally wound its way from Besant College to Lalbagh. Addressing the meet held at Lalbagh in front of the Gandhi statue, Iqbal Bellare member of state committee, said, “Drug menace is not new to the educational hub of Mangalore; several students like Sneha have fallen victim to this evil. This incident had caused anxiety to parents of students, and despite students falling victims to this evil, the district administration and police have failed to root it out and arrest the drug peddlers.”
Imran Thumbe, district president, Campus Front of India, said, “The district administration and the police should take stringent action to curb this drug menace. Illegal substances like ‘ganja’ and cocaine are easily available to students. Hence, the police department should call for a meeting of students’ association leaders and discuss the problem and take appropriate action against the culprits though there are influential people in the drug trade.”
Sanaulla welcomed while Illias Mangalore thanked. Safwan, Thamsir, and Sadhik were also present.
