Protests outside SRCC over Modi's visit

New Delhi, Feb 6 (IANS): A section of students protested outside Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to speak at the college 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Some students crossed the barricade and shouted slogans against Modi outside the college.

Modi is set to address students and faculty of Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), which has produced a string of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Arun Jaitley, Vijay Goel, Jagdish Mukhi and Vijay Jolly.

Modi's talk will be on the theme: "Emerging business models in the global scenario".

Great message to all politicians of India.Standing ovation at C for Narendra Modi's amazing speech. And this man did NOT speak about religion or caste.     1800 students inside the auditorium to listen to Shri Narendra Modiji and 80 Students outside Protesting against him .Shri Ratan Tata and Rahul Gandhi were also given as Choice but students Voted for Narendra Modi and hence he was called .I Liked New Dimension of Optimism by Namo the Glass is full half with Water and Half with Air we need both .What a speech it is really speech with action done already It is really laughable inspite of all these there are some hate mongers against Great Great Great Namo

    i have watched live speech of mr.narendra modi which was inspiring speech.modi ka ichchashakti,aatmavishwas ko great salute.aaj poore bharath soya huwa hai.sirf aur sirf modi soya huwa bharath ko jaga sakta hai.skill,scale,speed par bal dena ka jaroorath desh ko hai.mujhe lagta hai modi ka dhyan karam par hai phal par nahin.aaj bharath matha bhi garv kartha hoga modi jaisa beta ko janam deke.hats off to u.mr.modi iam proud of u.i wish u will be,you must be primeminister of india.all the best.mr.modi.

    Sridhar, I totally agree with your first comment. Politics should be kept at reasonable distance from holy places like educational institutions, whereas all good ideas and development related matters and blueprint for nations future should be discussed in length at these temples of knowledge. I wish all able leaders share their thoughts and future vision at right platform. There will be one or the other person to oppose any ideas, Even Jesus was not spared.

    Bhagalpur communal riots of 1989. More than 1,000 people were killed in Bhagalpur district alone, in one of Independent India's bloodiest communal clashes.

    Do you have any data since 1947 under our congi how many communal clashes were held under congi govt....

    The Gujarat government gifted unprecedented tax concessions to the big industries, an inverse subsidising of big industry by ordinary people. Leading economist Indira Hirway observes that “government is spending more on incentives than on development”, which she regards to be a kind of “crony capitalism”, in which industries set up bases in Gujarat because of the concessions given to them. Besides, under the hype, only a quarter of the promised investments have actually been realised.
    By the alternative yardstick of assessing a government’s worth by its success in battling poverty, discrimination and want, the Gujarat administration dramatically slips from leading the country, to a surprising laggard. Between 2005 and 2010, poverty in Gujarat fell by 8.6% well behind states like Orissa (19.2%), Maharashtra (13.7%) and Tamil Nadu (13.1%).
    From the benchmark of social equity, the gravest culpability of the Modi government is its openly hostile relationship with its minorities. The slaughter of Muslims in 2002 with unrepentant state complicity, the refusal to set up relief camps, the reluctant and meager compensation, the extensive subversion of legal justice, the proved engagement of senior members of the Modi government in the massacre, extrajudicial killings by senior police officials, are all relatively better known.
    What is less noticed is the administration’s refusal to extend development services to the minorities. Muslim ghettoes are conspicuously under-serviced with roads, sanitation, drinking water and electricity, compared to their glittering neighbours. Gujarat is the only state in the country which refused to contribute its share to a centrally sponsored scheme of scholarships for minority children, thereby denying minority children scholarships, although 36% Muslim children are out of school. In the bargain, Gandhi is nearly forgotten in Gujarat, who would protect the perpetrator from evil or harm in moments of confusion.

    What needs to be understood by Daijiworld readers is that C students body preferred Modi over others (Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, Ratan Tata etc..)thru a vote. So Modi needs to be appreciated that the growth story of Gujarat is appluaded by the Gen Next of India partcularly students of Economics & science. They have valued his cotributions....Others can mock, dream, get J and condemn - That would definately have no effect on the Modi Charishma :)

    Last night I dreamt of heavy rain in Sahara desert and the desert was full of greenery. Similarly some people dream Modi to be PM of India. They do not know tehre is a difference between CM for a particular state and PM for the whole nation. I would like him to be PM of India, attending a conference in USA and speaking to Mr. Obama " Kemchoo Obama Bhai ? Michelle Ben Saroo Che na ? Apla Patel Bhai no soo kabar che ? Amna Dhokla ne Bikaneri Sev jovuche. Pache amna maatha podi karavna nathi". Bharat Matha ki Jai. Would be PM ki jai.
