Kolkata, Feb 6 (IANS): The West Bengal Human Rights Commission (WBHRC) has ordered a probe into allegations by women teachers of a city college that they were assaulted.
The commission's order followed a petition from three teachers of the Milli Al-Ameen College (For Girls) who were placed under suspension by the authorities for their alleged involvement in violence inside the premises Monday.
The petitioner Baishakhi Banerjee said she along with two other colleagues were suspended without following established procedure and prevented from entering the college.
"On the basis of Banerjee's petition, the WBHRC has directed the Director General of Police of the commission's investigation wing to conduct the probe and submit a report in two weeks," said a WBHRC official.
