New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS): With barely a day to go before expiry of the deadline set by Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde a month ago for a decision on separate statehood to Telangana, Congress sources Sunday said a resolution of the issue may get delayed.
"Decision on the issue is likely to be delayed and not expected by Jan 28," said a Congress source Sunday.
Senior Congress leaders, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party chief Sonia Gandhi, Saturday discussed the demand for separate statehood to Telangana, but sources refused to divulge any details about the party's stand.
Shinde said Dec 28 that the union government would take a decision on Telangana within a month. But party leaders in Andhra Pradesh remain divided on the issue on regional lines.
