Mangalore: Protest Demanding More Buses at Mudipu - Shops, Schools Remain Shut

Mangalore, Dec 27: Demanding additional government buses on the Konaje-Mudipu route, the Sarakari Bus Horata Samiti staged a protest at Mudipu here on Thursday December 27.
The movement of buses was completely stopped in Mudipu. Shops and schools also remained shut with students participating in the protest.
Passengers travelling to BC Road, Ira, Vittal, Salettur, Pavoor, Innoli, Konaje faced problems due to the protest.
Addressing the protestors, Santhosh Kumar Rai, president of the Horata Samiti and zilla panchayat member said that their demand of additional government buses had not been fulfilled in spite of several appeals.
"Currently the number of private and government buses is inadequate to accomodate all the passenges, as a result of which students and public face lot of problems. Hence we have appealed the officers concerned to increase the number of government buses," he added.
Shivaprasad Alva, honorary president of Horata Samiti, Abdul Jaleel Montugoli, chief secretary, Sathish Shetty Karnadu, Jagadish Alva, Padmanab Kottary, Chandrahaas Karkera among others were present.
