Udupi, Dec 14: DCIB police on Thursday December 13 arrested four inter-state chain snatchers near Durga Sabha Bhavan on Brahmavar-Barkur road.
The police seized a car and gold chains from them.
The arrested are identified as Jagadish Nayak (27) from Theerthahalli, Chandru (18) from bangaloe, Manjunath (18) from Yashawanthpur in Bangalore and Ganesh (21) from Hassan.
The thieves were travelling towards Brahmavar via Saiberakatte-Barkur road in an Indica car registered in Bangalore. The car was moving at a high speed and seemed suspicious. The DCIB police tried to stop the car, but the accused did not stop and fled away. DCIB police then informed Brahmavar police who caught them later.
On interrogation, it was revealed that they were chain snatchers.
As per the information received, the above arrested along with Manju and S Manjunath allegedly snatched chains belonging to Gulabi Shedthi near Chegribettu and Usha Venkataramana while she was walking on Theerthahalli Koppa road.
The two chains, 1 Indica car and Three mobile phones are seized by the police.
Accused Manju and S Manjunath are said to be absconding.
DCI inspector Praveen Nayak, DT Prabhu, Brahmavar circle inspector, SI Girish Kumar, officials – Narayan, Yogindranath, Vaman, Uday Kunder, Ratnakar, Ashok Kumar, Dinesh Shetty, Rajesh, Jayanath Shetty, Sheena Billawa, Ravikumar, Arun were part of the investigation.
