Mangalore: Boat Capsizes, 9 Fishermen Rescued by Coastal Guards

Mangalore, Dec 14: Coast guards rescued a sinking boat along with nine fishermen in the middle of the sea, around 33 miles from Karwar here on Wednesday December 12 midnight.

The information about the rescue operation was briefed by Rajendra Singh, district and operation commandant of the Coastal defense team here at Panambur.

The fishing boat was registered in the name of Vijowin Joseph Antony from Kanyakumari. Sources said that they were involved in illegally carrying out fishing activities in Karnataka.

The boat began to sink as water entered through a hole at the bottom of the boat. They informed coast guards for help, who were on duty near Karwar.

The coast guards pulled the boat to the shore and were successful in rescuing the fishermen.
