Mangalore, Dec 12: “A conference on the academic importance on the history of Tulunaadu ‘Tuluva Aisiri- Tulunadu Nudiya Charitrika Avalokana’ will be organized at Kadri Shree Manjunath Temple on Saturday December 15 and Sunday December 16”, informed Dr P Ananthakrishna Bhat, working president of conference committee at a press meet held on Tuesday December 11.
“This program will be organized jointly by Kadri Shree Manjunath Temple, Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy and Maanusha (Mangalore University History Lecturers’ Union) will throw light on various unique aspects of Tulunadu. Dr T C Shivashankar Murthy, vice chancellor of Mangalore University will preside over the inaugural session on Saturday. Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodubidri will initiate the program ‘Chintana Chavadi’. A Sundar, professor emeritus of history, Karnataka University, Dharwad will deliver the key note address”, Bhat informed.
On Saturday December 15 from 11.30 am onwards, there will be sessions which will be taken up by Dr Jagadish Shetty Brahmavara, Dr Pundikai Ganapaiah Bhat, Dr Y Umanath Shenoy, Dr Padekallu Vishnu Bhatta, Dr Vaman Nandavar and Dr Denis Fernandes.
In the afternoon, intellectual seminars will be conducted by Dr S D Shetty Ujire, Jayaram Shettigar, Dr Madhusudhan Bhat and Dr Venkatesh Prasanna on various topics related to Tulu land.
On Sunday December 16, seminars will be conducted by Dr Ganesh Ameen, Dr P Sathyanarayan Bhat, Sushila Upadhyaya, Dayanand Katthalsar, Dr Poovapa Kaniyoor, Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, Bhasker Rai Kukkuvalli, Dr Peter Wilson Prabhakar and senior journalist Manohar Prasad.
Dr M Prabhakar Joshi will preside over the program.
After 2 pm, sessions will be conducted by Dr Prabhakar Achar, Dr Gananath Ekkar, Dr Narendra Rai Derla, Dr Sunder Kenaje. Deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat will preside over the function.
Dr Thalthaje Vasanth Kumar will deliver the valedictory address. Dr Erya Laxminarayan Alva, Vedamurthi Vittaldas Thanthri and Babu Shiva Poojari will speak on the occasion.
Also, a book titled ‘Suyil’ which throws light on various dimensions of the Tulu history will be displayed for the purpose of academic reference.
Umanath Kotian, president of Karnataka Tulu Sahithya Academy, Tukaram Poojari, Devadas Kumar and Divakar Saamani were present at the press meet.
