Mangalore, Dec 10: On the occasion of the World Human Rights Day, a handcuff protest was held by the members of DYFI, SFI and JMS  to protest against the arrest of journalist Naveen Soorinje on Monday, December 10 in front of the DC Office.

The members of DYFI, SFI and JMS protested by handcuffing themselves and shouted slogans.

Addressing the protestors, Muneer  Katipalla said that the main aim of observing the World Human Rights Day is to make people aware of their rights and assist them in securing those rights. “The government has been violating human rights in many instances, especially during the Padil home stay attack and the Vittal Malekudiya’s arrest”, he said.

“If the government continues to violate human rights, we are even ready to go to jail.  Naveen Soorinje has been arrested for exposing the true face of the saffron outfits in relation to the Padil home stay attack. He has also been booked with false cases, which have no connection with the attack”, he added.

Leaders namely Dayanand Shetty, Bharathi Bolar, Nithin Kuthar, Hamza Kenya, Sukanya, P B D’Sa, Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, Vasudeva Ucchil among others were present during the protest.

If you really need to do welfare for the society, Please go to Indian Border for the release of Sarabjith singh instead of wasting time in Mangaluru with these type of Jathas.

Dear Jeevan Mangalore, the words that ' free mimicry' you wrote is your freedom of expression. The same apply to the case of Naveen Soorinje. Do not make fun of these protestors. They are not paid or carried from villages by bus and jeeps. All educated people in Mangalore know that police have taken revenge on Naveen soorinje for exposing their delay in action and partiality in booking cases.

A very good move, a slap on the face of already limping BJP & its Saffron masters. Get down to the street and get justice.

Its a very good protest for a good cause. but Human rights has no any connection with dirty politics.. these politician can label any human act to unhuman and viceversa.. and we fools (of course more than 90%) take side of these politicians on the base of their religion, cast, group etc and never bother to think of our brothers n sisters.. shame on us.
