Udupi, Nov 30: The annual feast of St Vincent De Paul parish, Katapadi near here was celebrated on Tuesday November 27 and Wednesday November 28.
Fr Edwin D’Souza was the main celebrant of festal Eucharistic celebrations held on Tuesday November 27 night.
Fr Edwin in his homily said that St Vincent Paul was born in a ordinary family, and he was interested in studies and writing. He wanted to become a rich man. But for some reason he turned his life towards Jesus Christ.
Fr Fred Mascarenhas parish priest and Udupi deanery vicar, other priests from the deanery and neighbouring parishes also joined in the Eucharistic celebrations along with Fr Edwin. The holy mass concluded with adoration to Holy Sacrament on the occasion. A large number of parishioners attended the holy mass.
An attractive display of fireworks was also held after the holy mass at the parish grounds.
Parish priest Fr Ronald presented the blessed candles to all the families, who annually contributed towards parish burse and the Pirgent of the Feast Celebrations.
Ex – Arch Bishop of Bangalore Ignatius Pinto presided over the grand festal Eucharistic celebrations along with other priests from the deanery and neighbouring parishes were present during the holy mass.
Bishop said that, “God wants us to be helpful. We have to keep faith, trust in him. On the occasion of celebrating year of faith we have to increase our faith in the God. Church means one family”.
“We all have to live our life in church as one family. St Vincent Paul is the Patron of this church so let all of us take him as our role model in real life and help others in their needy times. By that way let us get the blessings from the Jesus Christ”, he advised.
Fr Ronald thanked all the donors who contributed for the annual feast. And the special thanks were given for the Pirgent of this Feast Hilary Pinto and Family. The holy mass on confraternity Sunday November 25 was offered.
