Udupi, Nov 20: JD(S) workers under the leadership of former MLA U R Sabhapathi thronged the Udupi taluk office located in Bannanje and held a protest complaining against the discrepancies and slow pace of work.
An attempt to lock the taluk office was symbolically done by the protestors. Police intervened and arrested the protestors who were later released.
JD(S) leader U R Sabhapathi addressing the protestors said that the public has been facing severe inconvenience due to discrepancies at the taluk office. Undue delay in disposal of files at taluk office has been witnessed.
"Implementation of Sakala project also not been made. RRT files, 11B, 11E sketch, land conversion applications, ration cards, RTC files, files addressed to the AC arse also not handled on time", he said.
"The tashildar who can handle a few files has been seen handing it over to his subordinates, few files have been pending for a couple of years", he rued.
He demanded an answer from the district in-charge minister and warned an intensified protest in the future if due action is not taken.
Later a memorandum was submitted to the DC. JD(S) leader Gulam Ahmed, Manjula V Prasad, Shantharam Bekal, Suresh Suvarna, Valerian Gomes among others were present.
