Mangalore: Journalist Naveen Soorinje's Bail Plea Rejected

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, Nov 18: The third JMFC court has rejected the bail to journalist Naveen Soorinje who was recently arrested in connection with the July 28 attack on Padil home stay.

Though investigation of the bail plea was done by November 13, the court decision was given on Saturday November 17 afternoon.

The court said that Naveen was not able to deny his presence during the attack at Padil. The charges regarding robbery against him should be questioned in the sessions court, it said.

Moreover, it is not possible to take decision on the case as various public interest litigations have been filed in the court.

The judge during the hearing said that bail pleas of other accused in the same case were also denied.

Police arrested Naveen Soorinje on November 8 charging him as accused for recording footage of the Padil Home stay attack.

this is the lesson for all the journalists not to go for breaking news in tv channels but act first as human being and citizen of country. Mr. Navin has brought same to mangalore by showing live what has happened in Morng.Mist. instead he should have called the police and then followed with his camera for proper action. Maadiddu unnu maraya.

MR.NS COULD HAVE PROVIDED FOOTAGE AS ONLY WITNESS FOR INVSTIGATION BUT HERE GIVING TO TV CHENNEL TANTAMOUNTS TO HURTING THE SENTIMENTS OF GIRLS ON ONE SIDE AND PROJECTING POLICE INACTION ON THE OTHER SIDE THEREBY TAKING REVENGE ON THE LOCALS WHO OPPOSED UNAUTHORISED HOMESTAY ACTIVITIES IN WHICH CASE SOME OF THE POOR GIRLS/PARENTS ARE THE HELPLESS VICTIMS AND ULTIMATELY HELPING SUCH PEOPLE THRU ATTACKS IN THE ABSENCE OF POLICE ACTION MEANS SOCIAL SERVICE FOR THAT MATTER BLAMING A PARTICULAR GROUP WHICH CREATE FURTHER PROBLEMS ARE CONNECTED ONE ANOTHER WAS NOT CALLED FOR. SO MR.NS AS A JOURNALIST COULD HAVE ACTED RESPONSIBLY AND DIGNIFIED PERSON.

This is a ploy of the authorities to deter people from reporting the actual incidents. Because of the video footage the authorities were forced to take action against the culprits who otherwise would have gone scot free. This is in fact an action of revenge on Mr. Navin soorinje who courageously reported this misdeed. God Bless him. Hope and pray the false cases levied against him are disproven and he gets acquittal from Court.

Shame on the incompetent and impotent Mangalore police!!!!! This is a classic example of 'shooting the messenger'.

Had it not been for Naveen, these "khaki clowns" would have still been running around in circles for evidence.

The state government needs to be pulled up for such draconian rules.
