Udupi: Bajrang Dal Activists Allegedly Assault Group

Udupi, Nov 17: A group of Bajrang Dal activists allegedly stopped a vehicle and assaulted eight people including a Dalit youth here in Kukkehalli, Hiriyadka station limits on Wednesday November 14 night.

The incident took place around 9.30 pm. The activists allegedly beat them and looted a mobile phone and a gold chain from them.

The Dalit youth has been identified as Nagaraj (22), son of Narayan from Uppur. His companions Nagaraj Nayak, Mithun, Nithesh, Santhosh, car driver Ashfal, Prashanth, Bharath, Suresh were also attacked.

Nagaraj who was seriously injured during the attack is admitted to Ajjaradka district hospital.

As per the information received, Nagaraj along with his friends had been to Sringeri Temple in a Tavera car. On November 14, around 9.30 pm when they were returning back home, a group of 30 people attacked them.

Although all the eight people were attacked, Nagaraj was mainly targeted.

The activists who called themselves as Bhajrang Dal activists were under the influence of alcohol. The activities claimed that the car hit their vehicle and hence they attacked them which is untrue said Nagaraj.

They also threatened to kill him if he informed the police.

A case has been registered in Hiriyadka police station.

    Yes,Mr Naren Baliga Venoor,it is exactly the main reason and what baffling us is those claiming custodians of the culture and religion doing these type of hooligans and robbery towards their brothers which is a reckoning point for true Indians and particularly 95% of Secular Hindu brothers.Why our present Govt of Karnataka conveniently mum on this issue.Arrest/book with stern IPC sections for 100 lawbreakers of BD in Managalore and Udupi, then watch the environment of peace and tranquility in twin districts.

    Its unfortunate to see that "Intelligent people" of Udupi-Mangalore are held to ransom by a bunch of 30-40 uneducated , brainless hooligans who use 'RELGION' to harrass and assualt educated people.

    People of Karnataka...PLEASE WAKE UP AND ACT before these goons enter you homes and assault you and your women folk.
