Mangalore, Oct 19: Continuing their agitation for the fourth day on Friday October 19 hundreds of All India Postal Extra Departmental Employees Union – Gramin Dak Sevaks (AIPEDEU - GDS) members protested in front of the head office, here.
Addressing the protest, Bejai postmaster said, “There are more than 1,55,000 post offices in the country among which 27,000 offices are looked after by permanent government staff, while 1,25000 offices are handled by extra departmental employees. The government does not provide proper wages to the workers."
"The condition of the GDS workers is pathetic and they are discriminated and segregated from the facilities availed by the permanent staffs”, he added.
P R Karanth, general secretary of Karnataka bank flayed the politicians. “Sonia Gandhi or Nithin Gadkar do not understand the pain of common man who cannot even afford basic necessities, who strive hardly to lead their life in this capitalists society. Present politicians do not understand pain of the working class”, he said.
He also spoke against the corruption of union minister Kurshid, his wife and Nithin Gadkari.
