Islamabad, Oct 17 (IANS): At least 13 more people were killed in Pakistan's port city of Karachi Tuesday in a spiralling violence blamed on target killings and abductions.
The victims included a police officer and a senior official of the education department.
Shamim Khan, education director, succumbed to his injuries in a private clinic after he was attacked by two motorcycle-borne gunmen in Hyderabad Colony Tuesday.
Gun attacks were also reported from Layari, North Nazimabad, Sohrab Goth and Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan areas, Xinhua reported.
An abducted trader was rescued after three of his captors were eleminated by police.
On Monday, 10 people were gunned down in Karachi in separate incidents.
Security has been beefed up in the city of 21 million people following these killings. Nearly 70 policemen died in the violence so far this year.
