Dharmasthala, Oct 8: The government has decided to organize religious camps during summer holidays in various religious centers’, said minister for ports and muzrai, Kota Srinivas Poojary.
He was speaking during the valedictory function of Kammata’s 14th annual Bhajan training programme, organized by the Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Bhajana Training Committee in Dharmasthala on Sunday October 7.
The camps have been planned to be organized in A and B category temples with a view to brief the children and ladies on the essence of Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Bhajan and other religious and historical epics.
Discussions are also being made to organize Bhajan Sapthaha in Temples. Such plans can be immediately implemented and will be successful if people like Dr Veerendra Heggade join hands with them, he opined.
“There are as many as 30,264 temples in the state. The temple funds have been increased from 12,000 to 24,000. There is need to revive family culture of the old Indian tradition. Today’s children are under the influence of television”, he said.
He also praised Dr Veerendra Heggade for bringing about revolution in rural development. Singer Vidhyabushan’s Bhajans purify our minds and fill our heart with devotion, he said.
Harshendra Kumar presided over the programme. Manila Shree Mohandas Swamiji, MLA Vasanth Bangera, Kannada priest Hiremagalur Kannan, artists namely Shankar Shanubagh, Devdas Prabhu, Manorama Tholpadittaya, Rameshb Kalmadi, Shankar, Mangaladas Gulvady and others were present.
Certificates were distributed to the participants. Maithri Hosnagar and Ashok Haklady shared their experiences. Kammata Committee organizer, B Seetharam Tholpadittaya welcomed. Rathnavarma Jain proposed the vote of thanks. M S Nagaraj and Srinivaasa Rao compered the programme.
