Mangalore, Oct 1: The Dakshina Kannada District Youth JD(S) staged a protest against UPA government for reduction of LPG cylinders and hike in the diesel prices.
JD(S) youth secretary K Shrinath Rai and Kurshidh Sheik of womens’ wing submitted a memorandum to the district commissioner in this regard.
The orders passed by the centre regarding the LPG cylinders have become a burden to the common man. The congress government reduced the number of LPG cylinders. But in the congress ruled states, the centre has increased the number of cylinders to nine, which clearly shows the cong-lead UPA government’s discrimination against the other states.
The BJP government in Goa was willing to give ten cylinders. The fight is not only against the congress government but also against the state BJP government because if the state government reduces the tax, more cylinders can be given. They urged the state and central government to provide 12 cylinders per year.
Youth leaders Kishore Shetty Deppunigutthu Molettu,Akshith Suvarna, Janardhan Bolpugudde and S B Shashi Kiran Poojary participated in the protest.
